All Heartwood Carving ornamental carvings and architectural products come with detailed mounting instructions. The look of carved wood will vary in different light. We will assist you with any questions or visit our carving FAQs section for more information.

Installation: Finished v. Unfinished

Heartwood carved products will arrive finished or unfinshed depneding on whether your cabinetmaker or finish carpenter does the install.

Many installations of carved products from Heartwood Carving will be handled by your cabinetmaker or finish carpenter. In these cases the carvings will arrive unfinished and trim and finish will be determined and applied locally to your specifications. Other carved products ordered from us will be pre-finished as indicated in the product description. Mounting directions and tips will be included.

Lighting with Impact

With carved murals or carved doors, attention to lighting will pay big dividends in the appearance and impact of your carved piece.

In the case of carved murals or carved doors, special attention to lighting will pay big dividends in the appearance and impact of your carved piece. In most cases a lighting angle of 15 to 30 degrees will give the most dramatic look. If possible, experiment by having someone hold a light above your carving at a time when the light in the room is subdued. You should be able to easily determine the best angle for your installation.
